Cutting through political noise

Editor In Chief - Matthew Gagnon

Matt Gagnon is the owner and major contributor to Political Capital.

He is a 2004 graduate of the University of Maine, where he received a B.A. in Political Science and History, concentrating in the fields of American Government and Comparative Politics.

Matt is a strong libertarian leaning republican, and has worked on countless political campaigns for a variety of candidates - from presidential hopefuls, to governors, senators, congressmen and local state house officials.

In 2004 as he worked to complete his degree, Matt ran for a seat in the Maine State House of Representatives. Unfortunately he was unsuccessful in his bid, but being a candidate and running his own race taught him a great deal about the grass roots level of political campaigning.

Currently, Matt works as a Public Affairs Analyst in Rosslyn, Virginia. He is also married and has a young son.

Staff Writer - Aaron Sterling

Aaron T. Sterling is a contributor to Political Capital. He attended the University of Maine, where he studied Public Management and Political Science.

Aaron is a member of the Republican Party, and considers the definition of a “neolibertarian” to describe him best.

He has run for public office, both in his hometown of Skowhegan, Maine, and in his second home of, Bangor, Maine, and also serves as a member of several local Republican committees, as well as as a voting member of the Maine Republican Committee.

Aaron is also a Registered Parliamentarian with the National Association of Parliamentarians, as well as a member of the American Institute of Parliamentarians. He also serves as President of the Maine Association of Parliamentarians.

Currently residing in North Carolina on a temporary basis, Aaron hopes to return to Maine and Maine politics soon.
